What to Expect at our Overnight Camp Check-In?

Check-in day is an exciting start to the St. Joseph’s Youth Camp experience! Whether your camper or CIT is riding the bus or being dropped off directly at camp, here’s everything you need to know for a smooth check-in process.

Option 1: Bus Transportation to Camp

Choosing the bus is not only convenient but also a fun introduction to camp life. Here’s why it’s a great choice:

  • Fun Onboard: Campers and CITs start their adventure as soon as they board the bus. They’ll watch movies, chat with new friends, and sing camp songs, getting into the camp spirit right away.

  • Convenience for Valley Families: If you live in or near the Phoenix area, taking the bus saves you a long drive and lets your camper or CIT start bonding with others before they even arrive at camp.

Here’s what to expect when you arrive at the bus check-in:

  1. Luggage Drop-Off
Be sure to label all luggage with your child’s name. You’ll find a clearly marked Luggage Drop-Off area where you can leave bags before heading inside to sign in.

  2. Sign-In
Follow the St. Joseph’s Youth Camp banners to the designated check-in area. A parent or guardian will proceed to Sign-In Table #1 to check in your child for the week.

  3. Camp Store
If your child has money for the camp store, stop by Table #2. Bring an unsealed envelope with your child’s name and the amount (cash or check) for store purchases.

  4. Camp Nurse & Medications
If your child takes medication, head to Table #3 to meet with the camp nurse. All medications must be in their original unexpired bottle. The nurse will review instructions and ensure all necessary information is recorded.

  5. Bus Boarding
After completing check-in, campers and CITs can relax inside the air-conditioned building until it’s time to board the bus.

Bus Pick-Up:
Pick-up will be at the same location as drop-off. Upon arrival, a parent or guardian must sign out their camper/CIT to acknowledge they are back in your care.

Option 2: Direct Drop-Off at Camp

Camp Location:
4860 Mormon Lake Rd. Mormon Lake, AZ 86038

Driving your camper or CIT directly to camp is a great option if you’re closer to camp than the Valley or want to see the camp in person. Here’s why you might choose to drive:

  • See the Camp: Dropping your camper/CIT off yourself gives you the opportunity to see where they’ll be spending the week and meet some of the camp staff.

  • Make it a Day Trip: Located near Flagstaff, the camp is in a beautiful area. You can turn drop-off into a fun day trip or even a weekend adventure exploring the surrounding attractions.

When you arrive at camp, our team will be ready to greet you during the designated check-in window. You’ll complete the same steps detailed above and have the opportunity to help your child settle into their bunk. Please arrive during this time, as the camp will not be open before or after the check-in period.

For pick-up, you’ll need to arrive during the scheduled window and sign your child out.

Final Reminders

  • Label Everything: Make sure all luggage is labeled with your child’s name to avoid any mix-ups.

  • Medications: All medications must be in their original containers and handed directly to the camp nurse during check-in.

We’re excited to welcome your child to St. Joseph’s Youth Camp! Whether they’re riding the bus or being dropped off, it’s going to be an unforgettable week full of fun, adventure, and new friendships.
