COVID-19
At St. Joseph’s Youth Camp, we are committed to providing the safest and best experience for our camp families. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have created the following policies to stay true to our commitment.
Campers and counselors may be required to wear a mask on the bus according to restrictions at that time.
In the cabins, we will follow our usual camp process. The cabins sleep 8 campers and 2 counselors. Cabin access is restricted to those assigned to the cabin, and ventilation has been increased.
We have added additional hand sanitizing stations throughout the camp.
Symptomatic Campers/Counselors/Staff: In the event a camper or counselor has influenza-like illness symptoms, they will be evaluated by the camp nurse and will be “quarantined” in a designated private room, and the parents/guardians will be notified. The decision to have a camper or counselor leave camp remains for the Camp Director to make, with the input of the on-site nurse and the medical director. Parents/Guardians who wish their camper or counselor to leave will need to arrange transport. SJYC does not take this lightly and has a provision for administering an onsite rapid test or taking the camper or counselor to Flagstaff for a Rapid COVID Test. We want all campers and counselors to enjoy the full week.
Food/Dining Hall: Our cooks and staff have met the Arizona state requirements and hold a valid Arizona Food Handler Card. Our past and current Kitchen protocols exceed the recommended minimum for COVID protection. Additionally, our staff has always cleaned the dining hall after every meal, and the floor is sanitized daily. Our bathhouse is also cleaned several times a day, and our usual protocol exceeds the recommended minimum protocols for COVID-19 protection. Counselors and staff shall remain out of the kitchen unless assisting with the preparation or service of a daily meal.
All public bathrooms and porta-potties will be cleaned multiple times a day, and all staff bathrooms will be cleaned once daily.
